Kazakhstan President opened plenary session of Council of foreign investors
Astana will host the 29th plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The theme of the regular meeting is dedicated to the Astana International Financial Center, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said in his welcome speech, BNews.kz correspondent reported.
The event is expected to involve the heads of major international organizations and companies: the EBRD, Chevron, “ERG”, “Metro Cash&Carry”, “JP Morgan&Co”, “Citigroup”, “Baker&McKenzie”, “Ernst&Young”, “EDB”, “Lukoil” and others.
So, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “JP Morgan&Co” Jacob Frenkel, Chief Executive Officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa of “Citigroup” Jim Coles, Chairman of the Managers Council of “ERG” Aleksandr Mashkevich and others will report during the meeting.
We remind that the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) was established in 1998 as an advisory body chaired by the President of Kazakhstan. Council’s meeting is a platform that allows the investors working in Kazakhstan to establish a direct dialogue with the leadership of the country – the President of Kazakhstan and the members of the Kazakh Government. Over the years the members of the Council have discussed a wide range of issues, including the improvement of the legal environment for foreign investment in the country, improvement of the judicial system of Kazakhstan, optimization of the tax system, improvement of the investment image of Kazakhstan and other issues.
In the Council Kazakhstan is represented by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, the Secretary of State of Kazakhstan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, the First Deputy Prime Minister, the Investment and Development Minister of Kazakhstan, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of National Economy and the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan.
The Council includes a number of top managers of the international financial organizations and foreign companies.
The working body and the main focal point is the Investments Committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan. On the foreign side the coordinator is the association “Kazakhstan Foreign Investors' Council”. Council’s meetings are held at least twice a year.
