Kazakhstan Tourism Department asks tour operators to warn about situation in Thailand
The director of Tourism Department of the Ministry for Investments and Development, Marat Igali encourages Kazakh tourists who were in Thailand not to panic and take precautions, and also asks the tour operators to warn about the situation in the country, BNews.kz reports.
Due to the heavy rains on Ko Samui (Thailand) the main road of the island was flooded and the flights in the local international airport were delayed.
Ko Samui is the second popular island resort in Thailand, after Phuket.
"According to preliminary data, organized tourists from Kazakhstan in Ko Samui are few, they are all on the line with the tour operators. As expected, the weather on the island of Ko Samui will improve in the next few days,” the director said.
According to the mass media, more than 700,000 people were injured over the last week by pouring rains in the southern Thailand.
"The Tourism Department of the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan recommends Kazakhstan tourists who are in Ko Samui Island not to panic and take precautions: not to leave the accommodation places, to follow the instructions of the local authorities.
We encourage the tour operators, who implement Thailand tours to monitor the weather situation in the country and to inform travelers about the possible deterioration of weather conditions and the dangers caused.

The Meteorological Department of the country spread the warning for the citizens of 13 regions of the southern Thailand, including the popular provinces for tourist Phuket Province, Phang Nga and Krabi. The rainfall and floods are expected up to January 10.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Thailand, 10 provinces of the kingdom are still flooded. 12 people are killed as a result of rampant disaster. The information about foreigners isn`t reported. The hundreds of tourists, including Kazakhstan tourists on the Samui island weren’t` able to fly away due to the rains.
