Graduate School of Education opened at Nazarbayev University
The Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University was opened within an interactive lecture given by the President of the country in the university today. The school will educate managers of secondary and higher education.
This school is formed with the participation of strategic partners of the university – the University of Cambridge and the University of Pennsylvania. The Center for Educational Policy became a basis for a new institution. The Center for Educational Policy trains highly qualified analysts, experts and managers in the sphere of education who can analyze the educational policy and introduce innovations in educational programs, PM.kz reports.
TimothyReagan became a dean of the Graduate School of Edcuaiton. Formerly, he worked at the same position at Connecticut University. In the interview for Pm.kz site, he noted that establishment of such a school would positively impact the whole education system of Kazakhstan.
“The Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University will work in the sphere of preparation of leaders and managers in the sphere of education. It should be noted that the school will prepare not teachers but managers who, in their turn, are to form the education policy. Presently, the purpose of the school is to organize enrollment of the students within the master’s programs this autumn already,” T. Reagan said.
Besides, he also noted that a concept of the PhD program was being currently prepared at university.
Provost of Nazarbayev University Simon Jones emphasized that the new school would work in the sphere of preparation of masters in the sphere of higher and secondary education.
“The peculiarity of the Graduate School of Education is in its focus on preparation of leaders in the system of education and its education programs will be applied in all the spheres of science. Besides, the school will not be preparing specialists but holders of master’s degrees in the sphere of higher and secondary education,” S. Jones said.
As earlier reported, the Head of State delivered an interactive lecture “Kazakhstan on its way to the knowledge society” at Nazarbayev University today.
