Kazakhstan celebrates Day of the first President

Today in Kazakhstan, the public holiday – Day of the first President is celebrated, BNews.kz reported. On December 1, 1991 the country had the first national presidential elections. The victory on them was won by Nursultan Nazarbayev, having received 98.78% of votes.


The proposal on organization of a new holiday was made by group of deputies in the run-up to the celebration of the 20 anniversary of Kazakhstan independence. Then on December 10, 2011 the parliament of Kazakhstan adopted the law "On entering of addition into the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan", providing organization on December 1 a new public holiday. And already on December 14 the law was signed by the Head of state.

For the first time Kazakhstan citizens celebrated the Day of the first President in 2012. Annually within the celebration various actions, including exhibitions, forums, shares are organized in the country.

Within the large-scale action of "25 star days" "Uly dala eli– 25 bases of independence" in honor of celebration of Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for inhabitants and guests of the capital free display of the epic film "Way of the Leader" will take place on December 1. The organizer of display are Management of domestic policy of the city of Astana with assistance of networks of capital movie theaters "Kinopark" and "3D Arman" .

Also week of cinema "Tyngysh - the First" in library of the First President starts. Here from December 16 to December 19 from 10:00 am till 5:00 pm, the exhibitions devoted to Day of the first President, the 25 anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan will take place. Admission is free.

On December 1 at 11:00 am in the Palace of Independence the Republican forum of youth devoted to Day of the first President of Kazakhstan will take place.
