Kazakhstan students got award for space debris collection project

The International Olympiad on robotics (World Robot Olympiad – WRO-2016) was held in New Delhi (India). Following the results the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan got LEGO Education Creativity Award for the most creative and innovative project, BNews.kz correspondent reports.

The Kazakhstan national team was awarded for “the orbital satellite for collection of space debris” project. The project received high marks on WRO-2016. The mechanism of the orbital satellite operation consists in the following: it takes space debris in the orbit by means of "umbrella" and sends it giving additional acceleration to the Sun for destruction. The satellite robot is executed on the basis of the LEGO Education EV3 set and has solar batteries and shunting engines.

Also the national team of Kazakhstan presented the Eco House project which provides integration of the station on waste recycling in houses. It is planned to create compartments for sorting of waste in kitchen. Thus, people will utilize garbage without leaving the house and keep ecology of the urban environment.

The WRO competitions have 12-year history. World Robot Olympiad is urged to develop creative skills and a capability to solve problems in pupils and students by means of robotics. WRO is carried out in more than 50 countries of the world, at the same time over 20,000 teams participate in competitions of these Olympiad every year.
