Imangali Tasmagambetov notes importance of rehabilitation of nonconventional religious trends
At the VII Civil forum which is taking place in Astana the aspect of religious education separately has been considered. During the plenary session the deputy prime minister Imangali Tasmagambetov has stopped on such direction as rehabilitation of followers of nonconventional religious trends, BNews.kz reported.
"Deradicalization is that sphere where the state and the non-governmental organizations have to combine the efforts as much as possible. Today only 22 non-profit organizations give advisory and rehabilitation help in the sphere of religion. These are only 0.12 percent from total number of NGOs. Whereas only according to official statistics in the country there are about 15,000 followers of nonconventional religious trends. At the same time only in four regional centers more than two NGOs (Astana, Kokshetau, Karaganda, Taraz), in Petropavlovsk – none. In the Southern Kazakhstan region there are about 3,000 adherents of the forbidden religious trends. At the same time only one NGO gives advisory and rehabilitation help in the sphere of religion (OO "Nur-Mura") works in the region," Deputy Prime Minister I. Tasmagambetov said during the plenary session.
