OECD countries interested in Kazakhstan's investment experience
Kazakhstan's experience in the field of investment has caused special interest in the OECD countries. It was announced at the Week of Eurasia in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) chaired by the Secretary-General at the headquarters in Paris.
The purpose of this annual event is to pay international community’s attention to the global significance of the Eurasian continent and to create the conditions for the effective cooperation of the countries of Eurasia with the OECD countries. Every year, this event gathers senior representatives of key countries involved in this dialogue. This year, for example, the Week of Eurasia in the OECD is attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland P. Glinsky, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan A. Pankratov, the Ministers of the Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Mongolia and others.
Kazakhstan takes an active part in the Week of Eurasia since 2012. This year a representative Kazakhstani delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov. It is composed of the heads of the Ministries of National Economy, Investment and Development, Energy, Health and Social Development, "Baiterek" Holding, "Astana EXPO-2017" Company, the Astana International Finance Centre and the Kazakhstani development institutions, Strategy 2050 NA reported.
The central point of the opening ceremony of the Week of Eurasia was a video message to the participants by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan B. Sagintayev. The Prime Minister shared the vision of our country's President on the directions of development of the Eurasian continent, noting the importance of increasing cooperation with the OECD. Particularly Kazakhstan's commitment to reform based on the standards of this prestigious organization was noted.
Minister Yerlan Idrissov, speaking at the opening ceremony and the ministerial session, elaborated on the direction of development of our country as one of the central players in the Eurasian space. The Foreign Minister explained to the audience the tasks of the National Plan "100 concrete steps to implement five institutional reforms", which is based on the best experience of the OECD member countries.
During the discussions the experience of our country in the field of investment and economic diversification was noted. The participants agreed that Kazakhstan is a very justifiable direction for investment and business partnership.
The rich program of the head of the Kazakh delegation also included the meetings with Secretary General of the OECD Angel Gurria and head of the Secretariat of the Organization's global connections A. Shalem. The parties were encouraged to identify Kazakhstan as the most vivid example of the Organization's cooperation with the country, steadily going in the club's most developed states.
"Achieved considerable success will serve as a solid basis for further cooperation", the Secretary General said.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Week of Eurasia, the head of the OECD drew the attention of the audience that Kazakhstan has achieved impressive results in all areas of cooperation with the Organization, recommending exploring the experience.
The Week of the OECD Eurasia will continue its work until 24 November. The members of the Kazakh delegation will participate in a business forum and in the various thematic sessions.
The special attention was paid to the presentation of the upcoming EXPO-2017 "Energy of Future" in Astana. In his speech, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Czech Republic J. Mládek stressed that his country seriously prepares to participate in the exhibition, which will be the unique event and provide an opportunity for both Kazakhstan and other states, significant progress in ensuring energy security.
"The Week of Eurasia this year is of particular importance for our country, because the implementation of the Country program of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the OECD 2015-2016 was summed up and we determined the format and priorities for further work of the Government within the Organization", the head of the Kazakh delegation said.
In addition, according to the Kazakh Minister, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of the Paris dialogue for the promotion of the integration processes in Central Asia.
One of the important results obtained by Yerlan Idrissov during the meetings in Paris was an agreement on the start of a specific operation with the Organization to hold the Week of Eurasia in the OECD 2017 in Kazakhstan.
