Ilya Ilyin deprived of Olympic "gold" medal

By results of an additional research of "A" and "B" tests Kazakhstan weight-lifter, winner of the summer Olympic Games of 2008 in Beijing and Games of 2012 in London in weight category to 94 kg Ilya Ilyin is disqualified from last Games of 2008 and 2012, his results are cancelled and awards are withdrawn, BNews.kz correspondent reports.


The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan has received the formal notice from the International Olympic Committee on the applied sanctions against the Kazakhstan athlete Ilya Ilyin, the participant of the summer Olympic Games of 2008 and 2012 years because of traces of banned substance revealed in his organism.

According to the decision of the disciplinary commission of the International Olympic Committee, by results of an additional research of "A" and "B" tests Kazakhstan weight-lifter, winner of the summer Olympic Games of 2008 in Beijing and Games of 2012 in London in weight category to 94 kg Ilya Ilyin is disqualified from last Games of 2008 and 2012, his results are cancelled and awards are withdrawn.

The decision on the term of disqualification will be made by the International Weightlifting Federation.
