President of Kazakhstan signed the law on amnesty
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Law "On amnesty in connection with the 25th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan", Akorda's press service reports.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that amnesty is gesture of good will from the state.
"This act of mercy, hope and forgiveness in relation to our compatriots, it will allow to revitalize society. Amnesty covers socially vulnerable categories - it is minors, expectant mothers and women with children, disabled people, elderly people," the President of Kazakhstan said.
The head of state emphasized that amnesty was declared in the country eight times for years of independence.
"As expected, amnesty will cover about 28,000 citizens. It is the important humanistic share on the eve of the anniversary of our independence," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The president of Kazakhstan noted that 1,500 people will be released from correctional facilities, 80% of them will be on control of a probation service.
"All of them are our citizens. It is necessary to give them the chance to follow a way of correction and to find the place in society. We all should help them. I hope that amnestied further will not allow legality violations," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The head of state also noted that a great job on humanization of legislation was done in Kazakhstan for years of independence.
