10% of transit drug remains in Kazakhstan – Ministry of Internal Affairs

Also, the Ministry commented the situation regarding India’s cannabis.

The situation regarding cultivating India’s cannabis in Kyzylorda region was commented by Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Kalmukhambet Kassymov, BNews.kz correspondent reports.

“It is cannabis of the Chuy Valley in the south regions, mainly in Kyzylorda region a certain part of the population does cultivate India’s cannabis. Over three years, 154 plantations were revealed, and more than 215 tons of such cannabis were removed. It is not by chance that the deputies of the Majilis paid attention to the issue,” said the Minister.

Moreover, according to Kassymov, Kazakhstan, being a transit route in drug trafficking from Asia to Europe, faces that 10% of such drug remains in the country. Afghanistan is the main traffic inflow from which Afghan heroin is delivered in transit to Europe.

“Over the last year and the beginning of the present year, more than 400 thousand drug crimes have been revealed. The Afghan heroin is of a special danger, that is transited through the neighbouring states and directed to Russia and Europe. According to expert estimates, up to 10% remains in the transit country, and Kazakhstan is not an exception,” said Kassymov.
