2020 Tokyo Olympics mascots’ names unveiled
It was optional on Japanese pupils of junior classes part.
The organization Committee has announced names of official mascots of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, life.ru reports.
Ambassadors of the summer Olympics are Miraitowa (pronounced mee-rah-e-toh-wa) and Someity (pronounced "soh-may-tee). The names of the mascots were chosen by pupils of junior classes of Japan during competition process from December 2017 till February 2018.
Miraitowa is named after the Japanese words for mirai -"future" and towa - "eternity". Someity is named after someiyoshino, a type of cherry blossom. Someity's name also references the English phrase "so mighty". Someity is painted in cherry blossoms and embodies the heart of Japan and the amazing abilities of the Paralympic athletes.
Names for talismans were chosen by pupils of the junior classes of Japanese schools, both on the territory of the country and abroad.
Recall that the Games 2020 in Tokyo will be held from July 24 to August 9, the Paralympics will be held from August 25 to September 6.
