The Minister noted, according to the World Economic Forum, Kazakhstan in terms of the number of Internet users in 2017 ranked 36 out of 137 countries, rising by 5 positions up. The number of Internet users in 2017 was 77% of the population, which is 4% more than in 2016.

"As of the end of 2017, the network of high-speed Internet standard 4G covered all settlements with a population of 50 thousand, as well as all regional centers. In this regard, the Telecommunications Committee together with the territorial inspectorates instruct in the first quarter of this year to monitor the quality of communication in these settlements, and report on the results," said Abayev.

In addition, according to the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this year the Ministry starts implementation of the project “Construction of fiber-optic communication lines in rural settlements of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

"This project will be implemented until 2020 and will cover 1,249 rural settlements. This is one of the most socially significant undertakings of the Ministry. Firstly, it will create a basis for the digitization of agriculture. Secondly, it will reduce the need for rural people to travel to district centers for obtaining state services," said the Minister.
