Almazbek Atambayev fuels Kazakhstan-Kyrgyz tension consciously - expert

The critical statements of the president of Kyrgyzstan about the Kazakhstan intervention in the course of presidential elections have unreasonable character and are caused, first of all, by narrow internal political reasons. The leading expert of Institute of world economy and policy (IMEP) at Fund of the First President Kazakhstan Zhumabek Sarabekov said in a conversation with the BNews.kz correspondent.
He has noted that "Kazakhstan doesn't render to any of candidates financial or organizational support".
"Considering that Atambayev and his team worry concerning continuity of the power and possible prosecutions from the following president, it is extremely important to them to carry out on a post of the president of the protege. However one week prior to elections Atambayev remains extremely uncertain in chances of the candidate for a victory in fight for a presidential chair. The analysis shows that the highest ratings from all candidates for president at the oppositional politician Omurbek Babanov. In this situation the current president goes for broke and does the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyz relations by a subject of internal political fight," Zhumabek Sarabekov told.
"The president Atambayev consciously plays on aggravation of the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyz relations. And by means of the "anti-Kazakhstan" card authorities in power expect to mobilize electorate in favor of the candidate supported by them at the upcoming elections. Therefore the critical statements of the current president of KR about intervention of Kazakhstan in the course of elections it is directed, first of all, to advance of the protege," the expert added.
From the point of view of the interstate relations of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev's statements have unacceptable character, Sarabekov told.
According to him, Kazakhstan has a number of levers for reciprocal actions concerning Kyrgyzstan: from reduction of various aid programs, including within EEU to restriction of a migration flow from the country, he noted.
"However the Kazakhstan side doesn't intend to give in to provocations without five minutes of the ex-president as all understand that passions around elections will shortly end. And for Astana a priority is development of strategic mutually advantageous partnership with Bishkek," the expert told.
Earlier the director Constructive Policy Fund (Russia), the political scientist Abdul Nagiyev has noted that the statement of the current president of Kyrgyzstan to the leadership of Kazakhstan is manifestation of "political lack of culture", and his successor should apologize for these words.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan called irresponsible and provocative the statements of the president of Kyrgyzstan and have said that it won't affect centuries-old friendship and mutual aid between the countries.
The prime minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev said that the government of our country intends and to deepen and expand actively further the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyz strategic partnership and cooperation.
