Speaking during the press conference at the Central Communications’ Service Vice Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yuri Ilyin informed about 367 people suffered from the beginning of the year, including during the winter.
"186 people have died since the beginning of the year, 65 of them are children, 85% (160 drowned) were registered during the bathing season. For the past week, the maximum number of deaths - 46 people, six of them drowned on the city beaches of Kapchagai. Among those six drowned, four died as a result of a sharp wave rising at the Kapchagai reservoir, the rest were drowned because of bathing in alcoholic intoxication. In the same period, when six people drowned, 51 people were saved at the reservoir. Of these, 12 were resuscitated with further hospitalization. It should be noted that 70% of the drowned are in the area where beaches are not equipped, mostly in the countryside. In this connection, taking into account the tendency of people's deaths in reservoirs, an appropriate order has been sent in the regions on strengthening both preventive activities and patrolling these reservoirs, "Yury Ilyin said.
According to him, the majority of deaths in water occur from 3 pm to 6 pm. Mostly on weekends and holidays. Given the age criterion, a large number of drowned, are children under the 10 years.
The most dangerous areas where the largest number of deaths are recorded is the Ural River - 15 people, five children, Kapchay - 10 people, one child, Irtysh - eight people, three of them children. Syr Darya - seven dead, one of them a child.
"A large number of emergencies with children are in the Turkestan region, where there are cases when young children, aged two or three, living in rural areas were in irrigation canals, and the saddest is that these cases were in Almaty, where children fell into various wells, septic tanks, leading to death, " the speaker concluded.
