An unbelievable breakthrough – Shavkat Mirziyoyev shocked with the trade turnover growth with Kazakhstan
The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan only via railways increased by 44% per year.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a bilateral meeting at the Akorda with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, BNews.kz correspondent reports.,
“We have met several times, and everything that we have discussed work and that is important. Over the year, we carried out a huge work, established relations with neighbours, resolved the border issues of mutual communication and trade, that remained unsolved over decades. In general, everything was improved,” Nazarbayev said addressing to the Uzbek President.
The head of Kazakhstan interlined that the idea to hold a working meeting of the heads of state belonged to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“We hold meetings with colleagues, our brothers. We do not have any other tasks. There is no any political sense in that. We want the existing problems of the neigbours, economic problems and the problems of interaction, trade, communication, transport to be resolved here,” Nazarbayev said.
In turn, Mirziyoyev said that the trade turnover increased by 44% per year only via railways.
“That is an unbelievable breakthrough,” Nazarbayev said.
“Yes, that is an unbelievable breakthrough. I am also sincerely glad. That is in the way we have agreed. In this year, we will reach the trade turnover up to three billion, and we have a task to reach 5 billion. Thank you very much for supporting the initiative of Uzbekistan on a consultative meeting of the Central Asian states. That is in not by chance that you managed to organize the meeting very fast, and that says a lot,” Uzbekistan President said.
Mirziyoyev underlined that Nazarbayev from the first days of independence of the Central Asian states always supported integration.
“We always talked at all meetings, that we should integrate, meet and exchange. There must be trade and economic interactions, humanitarian compounds. That was removed, because of objective and subjective reasons,” Mirziyoyev said.
And the head of state responded that the current meeting was the beginning.
“That is only the beginning. The meeting on Afghanistan at your initiative is expected, then the Turkmen President proposed to hold a meeting on the Aral Sea. That is why, a lot of such platforms will be organized within which we will meet. Of course, we have two large neighbour-partners Russia and China. We will always work with them jointly, and all agreements remain valid. Several of our states are members of the EEU, several are the members of CSTO, but it does not matter. We need to resolve all our issues here, without the participation of the third side,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The Kazakh President thanked the colleague for a huge work and the support that he conducts in his country.
It should be noted that within the visit, the Uzbek delegation will take part in the first consultative meeting of the heads of the Central Asian with a broad agenda. The meeting is held at the initiative of Mirziyoyev, with which he addressed in the 72th session of the UN General Assembly in September, 2017, and developed a full-fledged program at the International conference “Central Asia: one past and a common future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity” held in November in Samarkand.
The initiative of Uzbekistan was supported by all states of the region. Kazakhstan proposed to hold the first meeting at the highest level in Astana. On the same day, the head of Uzbekistan takes part in an opening ceremony of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan.
