Apple co-founder told Nazarbayev about cryptocurrencies
The reason for the emergence of cryptocurrencies not controlled by emission centers is the domination of one currency in the world, the President noted in turn.
In frames of Astana Economic Forum Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with Chief Executive Officer of Yandex Arkady Volozh and with a co-founder of Apple Company Steve Wozniak, BNews.kz correspondent informs, with the reference to the press service of Akorda.
The Head of State greeted Steve Wozniak and thanked for participating in the Astana Economic Forum and noted a meaningful and topical statement at the plenary session.
Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out that the reason for the emergence of crypto-currencies not controlled by emission centers is the domination of one currency in the world. At the same time, the President stressed that Kazakhstan uses other currencies alongside with the national one.
In turn, Mr. Wozniak expressed gratitude to President of Kazakhstan for an opportunity to take part in the event organized at the high level and shared an opinion concerning the global challenges.
Currencies have never been universal, in contrast, for example, wireless communications. On the other hand, the great advantage of cryptocurrency is that they are not controlled, do not restrain in development and become universal and global," the company's CEO said.
The sides also discussed digitalization, the perspectives of the cryptocurrencies development.
During the meeting with the head of the Yandex group of companies Arkady Volozh, the head of state stressed that Volozh, being a native of Kazakhstan, is one of the pioneers of the CIS digital economy. Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out the importance of joint work with Russian companies in the field of digitalization and recalled the thematic forum held in Almaty.
In turn, Mr. Volozh noted the necessity of taking an advantage of the unique situation in Kazakhstan and Russia when global and local companies are present on the market openly.
Cooperation within IT-hub and AIFC was also be discussed during the meeting.
As reported earlier the AEF is being held in a new format. 500 guests from over 24 world countries take part in the event. The agenda of the Forum: resource sustainability and longevity to global security and the organization of megacities of the future. The forum will discuss 11 topics. Among them: urbanization of the population; the fight against inequality between the rich and the poor; The problems associated with the loss of anonymity due to the development of information technology.
