Astana, Bishkek discussed key issues of cooperation

The Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan exchanged the views on a whole complex of issues relating to regional cooperation, boundary cooperation, the water and energy spheres, trade and economic interactions.   

Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov held talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart Chingiz Aidarbekov who arrived in Astana on his first working visit as the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, BNews.kz reports referring to the Foreign Ministry. 

"We pay special attention to relations with brotherly Kyrgyzstan and considers it as a strategic partner and good neighbour," said Kairat Abdrakhmanov during the meeting. 

The sides exchanged the views on a whole range of issues relating to regional cooperation, boundary cooperation, the water and energy spheres, trade and economic interactions.   

"A focus of our attention is the implementation of the agreements reached between President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov in Astana and Cholpon-Ata. We note with pleasure that the most part of the Presidents' instructions have already been implemented and an active interaction of the sides to implement the plans set continues," said Kairat Abdrakhmanov. 

During the meeting, the joint commitment to the implementation of practical measures aimed at increasing the volumes of mutual trade and the diversification of its structure, the implementation of joint investment projects in new sectors of the economy, as well as in the 'Astana' International Financial Centre, was expressed. 

"For business structures of the two states, new possibilities in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in such spheres as e-commerce, financial services, the processing and food sectors, as well as the digital industry, appear," reads the press release. 

According to the report, within the meeting, the joint commitment to the facilitation to the strengthening of peace and stability in the Eurasian space was outlined. Stating the close and same stances on key issues of international politics, the sides confirmed the intention to update the interaction within such structures like the UN, SCO, CSTO, EEU, CICA, OSCE and so on.  

"Cultural and historic and lingustic commonality of the two nations is teh good foundation for further exansion of the cooperation in culture, art, science, tourism and other spheres. We will extend the full support in a cultural exchange, encourage and maintain contact and links in the mentioned spehres," said the Kazakh Foreign Minister. 

Following the Kazakh Statitics Department, the volumes of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan havde incerased by 18% following seven months of 2018, and made up 486 million dollars.
