Astana in IDC’s smart cities ranking
The Kazakh capital city, Astana, was among the first countries in Central Asia to be included in the smart cities rakings by IDC (International Data Corporation) and to be evaluated on maturity level.
Astana was included in the international smart cities ranking by IDC, head of Astana’s Investment and Entrepreneurship Development Department Alisher Abdykadyrov told, BNews.kz reports referring to Elorda Info.
The Digital Kazakhstan national programme deals with the task of Kazakh cities’ occurrence in one of the five global smart cities rankings.
“The Department with IDC has examined Astana’s Mayor’s Office’s economic affairs, transport, environment, security and digitalization branches. Based on the said work, Astana was included in the international smart cities rankings by IDC,” said Alisher Abdykadyrov.
The Kazakh capital city, Astana, reached a maturity level of 2.48 points.
Maturity level of other cities of the world: Singapore – 4.4, New York – 3.7, Dubai – 3.6, Barcelona – 3.2, Moscow – 3.1.
“Astana was one of the first Central Asian countries to be surveyed under the Smart Cities Maturity Model and to be evaluated on maturity level,” he said.
Also, the examination led to the implementation of the IoT platform in the city Akkol.
“The platform is a programme system with monitoring and analysis functions, enabling to realise a whole package of services in the field of Smart City and IoT. On this matter, the experience of the city Akkol was taken into consideration,” said the speaker.
The Kazakh capital city has many other projects dealing with crucial social and economic issues – open data, Astana SU, Smart Astana, e-Condo.
