Astana Mayor outlines achievements in cooperation btwn Astana and Israel
The city Mayor invited representatives of official and business circles of Israel to participate in the UNWTO Global Summit on Urban Tourism in the autumn in Astana.
Astana’s Mayor Bakhyt Sultanov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Kazakhstan Liat Vekselman, according to a website of the capital city’s Mayor’s Office.
Bakhyt Sultanov has outlined the high level of the relations between Kazakhstan and Israel and expressed interest in exchanging the experiences in urban development. According to him, most prospective areas for cooperation are innovation development, education, tourism, water use and promotion of social and cultural ties. The role of health care has been specially outlined. So, in 2018 45 medical employees of Astana developed their skills in the Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer in Israel. 9 master classes involving the leading specialists from Israel were held in the capital city’s medical organizations.

The Israeli Ambassador expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation and continue exchanging the experiences in different areas. She thanked Bakhyt Sultanov for contributing to the development of the relations between the two countries when he took the post of co-Chairman of the Kazakhstan-Israel Inter-Governmental Commission.
