Base rate in Kazakhstan is kept at 11%-level
The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan decided to keep the base rate at 11% with a symmetrical interest rate corridor +/- 1%. The rates for liquidity provision operations remain at 12%, and for liquidity withdrawal operations - 10%. This was announced by Сhairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Daniyar Akishev, speaking at a briefing for television media in Almaty, the Strategy 2050 IA reported.
"Inflation corresponds to forecast and target trajectory. Since the beginning of the year, a growth in business activity and a stable situation on domestic financial markets have increased a likelihood of declining in the base rate for its next revision," he said.
As noted by D. Akishev, inflation in Kazakhstan remains within the target corridor and forecasts of the National Bank. So, according to the results of March, annual inflation fell to 7.7%.
"Inflationary expectations of the population have stabilized. A quantitative estimate of inflationary expectations for the year ahead in March constituted 6.1%. Thus, the population's expectations are formed at the level below the actual inflation rate," the Head of the National Bank said.
