Chairman of Kazakhstan’s National Bank told situation in the foreign exchange market
According to the head of the National Bank, the situation is stabilized.
Chairman of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daniyar Akishev told the situation on the foreign exchange market after weakening of the ruble, Bnews.kz reports.
"At the beginning of April, against the background of the weakening of the Russian ruble as a result of the fall of the stock markets, the tenge rate showed volatility. Taking into account the fairly good macroeconomic indicators, the situation in the foreign exchange market is now stabilized. In general, we estimate the reaction to the events in Russia as short-term moderate," said Akishev at the meeting of the Government.
As he noted, the fundamental factors forming the national currency rate were favorable.
"For January-March, the tenge fluctuated within the range of 318.31-333.29 tenge per US dollar, having strengthened from the beginning of the year by 4.2% to 318.31 tenge per dollar," said the head of the National Bank.
We note that, according to the Russian media, the ruble continues to depreciate at the Moscow Stock Exchange.
