Charyn Canyon makes UNESCO reserves’ list
Currently a list of biosphere reserves of Kazakhstan includes 10 national biosphere reserves.
The International Coordination Council of Man and the Biosphere Programme launched by UNESCO took a decision to catalogue Charyn and Zhongar-Alatau national parks,” the press secretary of the Committee on forestry and animal world under the Kazakhstani Ministry of Agriculture Saken Dildakhmet informed, BNews.kz reports.
Thus 10 national biosphere reserves Ak-Zhaiyk, Aksu-Zhabagly, Korgalzhyn, Alakol, Katon Karagai, Barsakelmes, Karatau, Altyn-Emel, Charyn and Zhongar Alatau and one trans-border biosphere reserve Big Altai are among the catalogue of Kazakhstan’s biosphere reserves, Saken Dildakhmet posted on his Facebook.
In its turn, the Ministry of Agriculture expressed their gratitude of the National Commission of Kazakhstan on UNESCO and ISESCO for their assistance in carrying out this great part of work.
