Film director from Kazakhtsan bypassed famous actor Shia LaBeouf at Madrid Film Festival
The work El Freeman was also nominated for "Best Camera Work in a Feature Film".
The feature film El Freeman by Kazakhstani film director Yelzhas Rakhimbekov received an award for Best Debutant Director, BNews.kz reports with a reference to a press serbice of JSC Kazakhfilm.
The movie was created in the Kazakhfilm studio named after Shaken Aimanov on request of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan.
As was reported, film director of the movie Yelzhas Rakhimbekov bypassed 14 competitors from different states of the world , including famous Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf who was also among nominees for Best Debutant Director with his movie #TAKEMEANYWHERE. The debut work of Rakhimbekov (stage name - Mikhar Sazhle) tells a story of the immigrant who is a figurative from the US authorities in Los Angeles. In addition to directing, he also played the main character in the movie.
"First of all, I express huge gratitude to my relatives, and to everyone who believed in us and supported us until the end. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the creation of the movie. It is only the beginning," said Yelzhas Rakhimbekov, laureate of the Festival.
The Madrid Film Festival is a part of the intrnational group Film Fest International, that also includes the same film festivals following the format in London, Amsterdam, Nice, Berline and Milan. All festivals of this group are always open to all genres and films, the special attention is paid to film activists of the young generation and modern tendencies and trends to develop cinematography.
Yelzhas Rakhimbekov is a Kazakhstani actor, screenwriter and film director who got edcuation in film in the USA. He is the graduate of New York Film Academy and Ivan Chubbuck's acting school. He founded the Libertus film lab (2014, Nevada, USA). He is also the winner of the Eurasia-2015 International Film Festival (Almaty, Kazakhstan) in the nomination of Work-in-progress (the El Freeman feature film); the nominee in the 'Best Man's Supporting Role' under the version of the Association of Film Critics of Kazakhstan (When Angels Sleep, 2017, by Rashid Suleimenov). He took part in more than thirty various international cinema and music projects.
