Foreign Ministries of Kazakhstan and Brazil to create road map of bilateral partnership
Kairat Abdrakhmanov urged to implement investment projects in the aerospace sector and the military and industrial complex, energy, mining, 'green' technologies, tourism and education.
Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov received Foreign Minister of the Federative Republic of Brazil Aloysio Nunes as part of the first visit of the Foreign Minister of the largest South American country in Astana in the history of bilateral relations, BNews.kz reports referring to a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
"The visit is timed to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states and marks a new stage in the strengthening of friendship and cooperation. Over these years of cooperation, Kazakhstan and Brazil have greatly strengthening partnership due to reciprocal high-level visits in 2007 and 2009," the report reads.
In September 2016, President Nursultan Nazarbayev met Brazilian President Michel Temer on the margins of G20 Summit in China. Given that Brazil is one of the leading trade partners of Kazakhstan in Latin America, the importance to update business contacts, to conduct B2B business forums and meetings between representatives of Kazakhstan and Brazil's business communities to ensure sustainable development of bilateral economic relations was underlined.
"In the past year, the trade turnover between the two states exceeded 135 million dollars, and the figure has growth potential. Having considered the favourable conditions being created in Kazakhstan for foreign businesses, Kairat Abdrakhmanov urged to implement investment projects in agriculture, the aerospace and military and industrial complex, energy, mining, 'green' technologies, tourism, education conforming to the provisions of the recent Address of the President of Kazakhstan," they said in a press service of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan.
The Brazilian side congratulated on the holding of EXPO-2017 in Astana and expressed interest in cooperating with the AIFC, International Centres for Green Technologies, investment projects and IT startups on the base of the specialized exhibition.
Kazakhstan expressed interest in strengthening dialogue in a multilateral format with Brazil taking an important place in such world and regions structures as BRICS, G20, Mercosur.
'It was noted that developing cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and Mercosur could have a positive impact on the economic cooperation of the two states. The sides have agreed to continue constructive interaction on current matters of global interaction within the UN, paying special attention to non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and the fight against international terrorism,' reads the report.
In the near future, the Kazakh and Brazilian Foreign MInistries will agree on a road map of bilateral cooperation in all priority areas of mutual interest. Aloysio Nunes's visit programme also includes a meeting with Kazakh Agriculture Minister Shukeyev.
