In the present year, 50 foreign volunteers will arrive in Kazakhstan to provide training in the English language to rural pupils. It was said by Director of the Political Work Department of the Central Apparatus of the Nur Otan party Danat Zhumin, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
Arrival of foreign teachers to the county to train rural pupils is envisaged within the project of the Nur Otan party – English for zhastar.
“We are well aware of problems with the language learning, particularly in rural areas, there is a lack of teachers and not everywhere the teachers are well trained to qualitatively teach English. In this connection, the Nur Otan party has launched the English for zhastar project, we will attract volunteers, native speakers of English of Kazakhstan and foreign students studying in Great Britain, the USA and to send them to rural schools of Kazakhstan, so they could create a language environment and teach the language to our children in rural areas,” said Danat Zhumin within the session of the Commission.
As Danat Zhamin told, 500 people will be attracted in two years as part of the project as an experiment. In 2018, 150 volunteers will be engaged, of which 50 foreign volunteers.
“In Astana, Almaty there are various training course, one can hire a tutor, there are teachers in schools, then the most problems occur in rural areas and we should gave an opportunity to our children to equally study the English language, so they could compete, attend foreign universities and get the most contemporary knowledge. There are people who expressed wish to take part, now we are working with the organizations in Europe, the USA, conduct interviews as they will work with children, and knowing the English language is not enough, one should also have some knowledge in teaching,” said Zhumin.
According to Danat Zhumin, as of today 10 volunteers will be send in each 14 regions of the country within the project.
“Now we have sent requests in all regional branches of the party to form a list of certain schools that mostly need in native speakers, and with the most problems. In the present year, we plan to send 10 people to each 14 regions as an experiment. We will see how it is going to work, and how native speakers could adopt,” he said.
As the Director of the Political Work Department of the Central Apparatus of the Nur Otan party underlined, the project had a voluntary nature. Therefore, volunteers who shows interest to take part in it will not be paid, but they will be provided with food and accommodation.
“We have several families that are ready to receive foreigners, to give them rooms so that they could spend more time with their children. (…) In the USA, there is such notion as practice, internship, when the teacher has motivation to leave for another country and to know something new. We focus on such teachers and students. There are many of them and Kazakhstan is of interest to them. It will be a usual visit, it will be an opportunity to serve the world, to get to know a new country and to contribute to the benefit of people. We look forward such people,” he noted.
According to the speaker, 30 foreigners have applied for taking part in the project. It is expected that the first group of volunteers will arrive in Kazakhstan on August of the present year.
