In order to eliminate this gap, 100 years are needed, they believe in UNDP.

Administrator of the UN Development Program (UNDP) Ackim Steiner released an official statement on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

The statement says that the work of various movements that defend the rights of women is activated in the world.

“It is time to cancel violation against women. 49 countries of the world do not have laws that protect women from domestic violence, and in 37 countries those who are convicted in violations are freed from prosecution, in case the violator and the victim are in marriage or will get married,” says the statement of Ackim Steiner.

According to him, it is necessary to promote the political participation of women.

“Only 23.5% of all representatives of women around the world are deputies. The world needs women to have the same rights when making decisions. It is time to fill the gap in the salaries. The global gender gap in the salaries is 23%, and in order to cease the current pace of the gap 100 years are needed. We should appreciate the work of women and to decrease their disproportionate burden of the salary, including the domestic one. Such a work makes women to lose the opportunity to earn money and to carry the public life,” Steiner said.

According to him, 43% of women are among agricultural workers around the world, and the majority of them represent the rural area. At the same time, almost in all indicators of development, rural women live worse than rural men or women who live in cities, the representative of UNDP said.

“Women’s movements created an impulse for changes, that is based on the items of the agenda in the sphere of sustainable development up to 2030. 17 goals that vary from the cancellation of poverty to the increase of the equal growth and ensuring the qualitative education for everyone, are closely interconnected, and the gender equality is significant to achieve all these goals. That is, each of us has a certain role in the support of expanding of the rights and opportunities of women either in the home or in the public, as well as in the work. Together, by mowing towards the equality and successful implementation of the agenda in the sustainable development till 2030, we could ensure all women to have the same rights,” Steiner said.

It was said that over 2016-2017 more than 2500 early marriages were registered in Kazakhstan.
