Hollywood stars arrived in East Kazakhstan to participate in film shootings

Guests very much liked East Kazakhstan region, some of them expressed a desire to accept the citizenship of Kazakhstan.

Hollywood actors Cary Tagawa, Mark Dacascos, Bai Ling, Michael Madsen arrived in East Kazakhstan region for filming in a documentary. The film is planned to be shown on "National Geograghic" and "BBC" TV channels, BNews.kz reports with reference to the region's infocenter.

Governor of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov met popular stars. He shared with guests about the features and attractions of the region.

"East Kazakhstan is an industrial center of Kazakhstan with a unique industry. One can see historical, sacred places, including the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and visit 4 districts of the region, get acquainted with the life of our people, not only Kazakhs, but 120 other ethnic groups. I hope you will get good impressions," said Akhmetov.

The project is implemented within the framework of the program "Rukhani zhangyru". The film will narrate the history of the region. It will have 4 parts each 15 minutes. Producer Arman Asenov believes that in the era of digitalization, interest in Kazakhstan needs to be developed by inviting actors with a worldwide reputation. For example, Bai Ling’s one post on social networks gains more than 60 million likes.

"The film will popularize the tourist cluster of the region. We need to introduce the world tourist with it. There is a great interest in nomadic culture, especially after the visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the United States, many American companies have expressed a desire to learn more about Kazakhstan. We need to show the best locations. I think other regions should follow this idea," Asenov said.

American actor of Japanese origin, known for his roles in films Mortal Kombat, "47 Ronin" Cary Tagawa said that when he came to Kazakhstan, he felt home, because the Japanese and Kazakhs had the same genetic code. He announced his desire to accept the citizenship of Kazakhstan.

“We want to show the real power of Kazakhstan as its most important wealth is the people. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to be with the Kazakh people,” Tagawa said.

The delegation from Hollywood will stay in East Kazakhstan region till February 17. Within these days, the actors will visit the Kurchum, Abay, Zaisan and other districts as well as sacral and historical locations of the region.
