The Committee has started an investigation against the leadership of the International Boxing Association.

The head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, announced his interest in the fight of Kazakhstani Vasily Levit and the Russian boxer. It was announced at a meeting of the IOC Executive Board, which was held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, TASS reports. It is noted that the IOC did not make a report on management, finance and anti-doping issues. In this connection, the Olympic Committee initiated an investigation against the leadership of the International Boxing Association.

“The IOC Executive Board is concerned about the situation in the AIBA leadership, Bach said. – We can prove the beginning of an investigation against the AIBA leadership. The IOC Executive Board also ceases all contacts with the AIBA except issues regarding the work, which are necessary for the implementation of IOC’s decisions.”

The IOC also suspended all AIBA payments. The IOC Executive Board waits for the next report from the organization by April 30, 2018. At the conference, Bach noted that he is concerned about the judgement of boxing fights at Olympic games.

According to him, the IOC will continue to investigate the results of the two fights with the participation of the Russian boxers at the Games-2016 in Rio de Janeiro. In the first fight, Evgeny Tishchenko won Kazakhstani Vasily Levit in the final (the weight category up to 91 kg.), in the second fight, Vladimir Nikitin won the fight over Irish Michael Conlan in the quarter-finals (up to 56 kg.)

“At that time, we received reports from the AIBA regarding those fights, however, we requested more information and we are still interested in this deed,” the head of the IOC reported.

The Kazakhstan boxer, Vasily Levit, is a silver prize winner of the Olympic games in 2016. In the final fight, he lost the fight against the Russian boxer, Evgeny Tishchenko, who works in the security force of Vladimir Putin.
