ISU World Cup Short Track to be held in Kazakhstan
The tournament will take place on December 7-9 in Almaty.
The International Skating Union officially confirmed the right of Kazakhstan to host World Cup Short Track, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
The venue of the World Cup is Almaty, time frame – December 7-9,2018. Kazakhstan for the first time ever will host short track tournament. Earlier, the country hosted only multi-sport events with the participation of short track speed skaters: the 2017 Winter Universiade (Almaty) and the 2011 Asian Winter Games (Astana and Almaty).
Almaty as the World Cup Short Track venue was chosen not by chance. Of paramount importance was the availability of modern sports infrastructure, as well as the experience of the World Student Games. No less important factor - the activity of fans.
The homeland stage of the World Short Track tournament will be an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the whole potential.
The 2018 ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating starts November 2 in Calgary, Canada. The third stage will take place in Kazakhstan. In total, six cup stages are planned in the 2018/19 season.
