Kazakh Education Ministry named main reasons of students’ outflow to foreign countries

Education abroad is a global trend and even an epidemic, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science underlines.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov named the main reasons why Kazakhstan students leave for education in other countries, the BNews.kz correspondent reports.

“To date, the issue of students’ outflow to foreign countries to get high education is discussed often. The Russian Federation is of a special popularity. The Ministry holds its inquiry. Three obvious reasons occur. The first one is because of the family, that decided to move to another country. Firstly, the parents send their child to get education and to adjust, then they move themselves,” the Deputy Minister said at the meeting of the Commission of the party curator at the central office of Nur Otan party.

The second reason, according to him, is that parents think that education abroad is better.

“The parents do not know why, where, in what universities, the education is better. But they strongly believe in it. Mostly, it finds that they were right. Because, the child being in a foreign country becomes grown-up fast and independent,” Askhat Aimagambetov said.

According to the date of the Ministry, now more than 20 thousand people leave to get education abroad. As Aimagambetov noted, to stop this tendency, the quality of local education should be improved.

“It is necessary to noted that education abroad is a global trend, one can say that it is an epidemic. Children want to study abroad. We have talked with many colleagues, Minister of Education of some countries. Half of children of China go to bed with thought to get education abroad. The situation is alike in many countries. Over the last 40 years, the number of foreign students in the world increases by 8. This number will continue to increase because of globalization. We think that Kazakhstan should participate in this process and become a n educational hub,” Askhat Aimagambetov said.
