Kazakh Education Ministry proposes to change UNT's format

Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sagadiyev told about the possible changes in the conducting of the unified national testing (UNT), BNews.kz correspondent reports.
"During the year, the Ministry of Education and Science received preposals from the pedagogic publicity and parents to improve the process of the unified nationbal testing and complex testing. Becasue both of them does the same function, it was proposed to unify these tests," Yerlan Sagadiyev told at the session of the Government.
As the Minister noted, the Ministry receives the proposals to exempt teachers from preparing schoolers for the unified national testing.
"In the connection that the UNT is an entrance exam to a university, it was proposed to exemp teachers from organizing the UNT. Schools should not prepare students for the UNT. They should assist them in learning school programmes. Therefore, the conducting such testing in schools is cancelled. As well as granting scholarships without taking into account the language of instruction. Such proposals will be fully discussed at the August meeting," said Sagadiyev.
After a report of Sagadiyev, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Sagintayev promised to discuss these proposals in the nearest future.
"This year, the UNT has been held without delays, in normal mode. A huge work has been done. Sagadiyev should conduct retesting at the same level. All proposals will be discussed at an expanded August meeting of teachers. I think that in the next year, we will prepare in another way," said Bakhytzhan Sagintayev.
