Kazakh head of state met with members of Council of CIS heads of government
The President of Kazakhstan noted the importance to develop trade and economic relations between the CIS states.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.Sagintayev, the Azerbaijan Republic N.Mammadov, the Republic of Belarus S.Rumas, the Kyrgyz Republic M.Abilgaziyev, the Republic of Tajikistan K.Rasulzoda, the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Aripov, Chairman of the Russian government D.Medvedev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia A. Mirzoyan, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan G. Muradov, Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the CIS S.Lebedev, the Akorda reports.
After welcoming the leaders of the delegations of the CIS countries, the President of Kazakhstan emphasized the special significance of the meeting of the Council in strengthening cooperation of the Commonwealth states.
"Today you are to take part in the regular meeting within the Council of heads of government. The agenda of the meeting includes 15 specific practical issues. I am confident that this event will contribute to the further development of mutually beneficial relations," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The head of state noted the importance of developing trade and economic ties between the CIS countries.
"For more than a quarter of a century, the CIS has established as a full-fledged organization that allowed preserving historical ties between our peoples and helped strengthen the sovereignty of each country. Today, cooperation within the Commonwealth has become even more significant. Mutual trade within the CIS continues to grow. Last year the trade turnover reached 164 billion US dollars, an increase of 25%. The similar trend continues this year," said the President of Kazakhstan.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also focused on the results of the last meeting of the Council of CIS heads of state.
"We considered the issues of strengthening our Organization. This includes promoting the process of its modernization, aimed at improving efficiency and adapting to modern realities. To expand economic cooperation within the Commonwealth, the need to update the Economic Development Strategy and accelerate the adopted projects of the Free Trade Agreement in the CIS states," said the head of state.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan spoke about the results of the discussion of new proposals made during the meeting of the Council of heads of state in Dushanbe. Among them, the removal of trade barriers within the Commonwealth, improving the efficiency of interaction in the transport and logistics and tourism sectors, the implementation of projects in the space industry, the development of the digital economy and the use of innovative solutions.
"The integration of technology parks and the implementation of joint innovation projects will provide a major synergistic effect for creating high-tech production in the CIS. Western countries are actively using the Internet in 5G format, without which artificial intelligence cannot function. We should develop it. Each of us cannot do it separately," said the head of state.
At the end of his speech, Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed to the need for practical work on the implementation of the proposals put forward at the Council of heads of state.
"An important task is to develop a set of effective measures in all directions. The implementation of these initiatives will not only contribute to economic development but will also be an important factor in strengthening friendly and stable relations between our states," said the President of Kazakhstan.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan B.Sagintayev and Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation D.Medvedev also spoke at the meeting.
