Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik Prosecutors General discuss inter-agency cooperation

Kozhamzharov held bilateral meetings as part of the international conference 'Enhancing interregional cooperation and coordinating the efforts to counter organized crime'. 

 

Bilateral meetings between Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Kairat Kozhamzharov with Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan Otkurbek Jamshitov and Tajik Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon were held. The interlocutors discussed the enhancement of inter-agency cooperation, and the expansion of treaty and legal base, a press service of the General Prosecutor's Office reports.

Constructive relations in combatting transnational crimes, extremism, and terrorism, as well as the joint efforts to return the looted assets, were positively assessed. 

"The agreed reliable actions enable to rapidly and non-bureaucratically cope with the implementation of the Kishinev Convention on the legal aid in criminal proceedings," said Kairat Kozhamsharov. 

In his turn, Kyrgyz Prosecutor General Otkurbek Jamshitov noted the reached interaction in prisoner transfer. Over the last 2 years, 11 wanted persons were extradited from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan, and 17 to Kyrgyzstan. In the same period, Kazakhstan extradited 19 sentenced citizens to Kyrgyzstan and received 3 citizens. 

Cooperation in the sphere of combatting terrorist organizations and their financing was touched upon. 

The Kazakh Prosecutor General told the foreign colleague about the readiness to further bilateral relations.

The heads of the supervisory authorities of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan held constructive discussions over the fight against transnational crimes, extremism, and terrorism. 

Kairat Kozhamzharov underlined the effectiveness of the regional and international organizations facilitating the comprehensive resolution of extradition, exchange of criminals, the return of looted assets.  

On the mentioned aspects, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are the participants of the Convention on legal aid and legal relations on civil, family and criminal cases, on the extradition of prisoners for the further serving of sentences and on the protection of members of criminal proceedings. Kazakhstan has joined 16 international legal documents in the sphere of combatting terrorism. The sides highly appraised the established bilateral relations between the agencies, as well as prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the criminal law field. 

Within the cooperation, 5 persons have been extradited this year from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan. 75 Tajik citizens are serving their sentences in Kazakhstan, and 8 Kazakh citizens - in Tajikistan.  

Also, the Prosecutors General paid special attention to the fight against international terrorist organizations. Tajikistan's experience in this sphere was noted. 

In his turn, Yusuf Rahmon expressed readiness to expand bilateral relations in all matters under discussion.
