Kazakh leader awards first prize of Congress of Leaders of World Religions to Vatican's Pontifical Council
Other religious leaders have been awarded state prizes by the Kazakh President as well.
Head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev has presented the first prize of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions for the contribution to interreligious dialogue to the Pontifical Council of Vatican, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
"We express gratitude to the Holy See for great and fruitful work to support our Forum. I award this prize in your presence," said the Kazakh President during the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
Also, according to the President, state prizes will be awarded to several other religious leaders.
"The prizes will be presented by head of the Congress's Secretariat, Chairman of the Senate of Parliament Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at my instruction," said Nazarbayev.
The 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions under the theme 'Religious Leaders for the Safe World' has started its work in Astana.
More than 82 delegations from 46 states, including eminent politicians, religious Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, Zoroastrianism, as well as representatives of the world, religious and public organizations, such as the UN Alliance of Civilization, OSCE, UNESCO, the Arab League and others. The Congress includes two plenary session and four breakout sessions.
