Kazakhstan's school children to be taught basics of entrepreneurship in new academic year

Testing of the new subject 'Basics of Entrepreneurship' will be given a start from September. 

 

Testing of textbooks of the new subject 'Basics of Entrepreneurship' in schools of Kazakhstan will start from September 2018, BNews.kz correspondent reports. It was said by Vice Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov at the press conference in the Central Communications Service. 

"In a 2019-2020 academic year, edcuation institutions of our state will introduce the new elective subject 'Basics of Entrepreneurship'. In the present year, from September we will start to test the textbooks. The initial review was conducted, and now we will test test the programme of this course and textbooks in all regions of the country. Those teachers who will start testing from September passed the upskilling cources by the Atameken chamber. The teachers who will teach differ. We do not have requirements that this subject, for instance, should be taught by teachers of history," said Vice Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov. 

According to him, representatives of the universities, experts, businessmen, representatives of Nazarbayev Intellectual School, major international comoanies and other took part during the preparation of the education programme. 

"We apply the gamification mechanisms in the subject. 40% is theory, 15% is analysis of various cases and 45% is practice. Within the subject, such issues as self-introduction, self-promotion and many other issues will be solved," he added. 

As the Vice Minister noted it is necessary to make graduates open their businesses and do not look for a job after graducation. To this end, children should learn to solve applied and theoretical issues. 

'Basics of Entrepreneurship' is an elective schools subject for students of 10th and 11th forms in general edcuation schools. The programme was designed with the use of the best foreign practices, is based on the gamification principles of the learning process, and on case works on the themes close to Kazakhstan's youth. Schoolers will study basics of business on examples of viners and young entrepreneurs. 

The main task of the course is to develop business thinking of a schooler, so that children can perceive life difficulties and problems as an opportunity, as well as to apply the skills in other daily areas of activity.
