Kazakhstan - one of largest participants of World Nomad Games 2018
Our national team joined top three most numerous team-members.
The Third World Nomad Games is planned for September 2-8, 2018, in Cholpon-Ata, in the Issyk-Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. This year Kazakhstan joined the top three most numerous team members.
Athletes from different countries are expected to participate in competitions in 37 types of ethnic sports.
The World Nomad Games are aimed at developing the ethnic sport and ethnocultural movement in the world, as this is the heritage of human civilization.
The mission of the World Nomad Games covers the revival, development, and preservation of the ethnic culture, diversity, and originality of the people of the world in order to foster a more tolerant and open relationship between people. The slogan of the Third World Nomad Games is “United in Strength! United in Spirit!”.
The largest number of participants are from Kyrgyzstan - 458, the second is Russia – 235 and the third is Kazakhstan – 195. It should be noted almost three times fewer Kazakhstanis participated in the 2016 Games (75).
According to the Secretariat for the organization of the III World Nomadic Games, such countries as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Belarus, Bulgaria, India, Iran, China, Mongolia, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine France, Sri Lanka will take part in the competition.
The states that are not included on the list will send 16 athletes.
The World Nomad Games program includes archery, falconry and dog hunting, oriental board games, horse racing, goat dragging game.
Totally 594 medals are up for grabs: 174- gold, 173-silver, and 247- bronze. The prize fund of the World Nomad Games 2018 will be more than 26 million som (136.5 million tenge, or 381.3 thousand dollars).
30 representatives of mass media will keep the audience currently informed. Sports stars and celebrities will take part in the cultural program.
The First World Nomad Games were held from September 9th through 14th, 2014, in Cholpon-Ata, in the Issyk-Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. 583 athletes from 19 countries participated in competitions held in 10 types of sports, plus an additional 1,200 participants in the cultural program. The television broadcast of the Games reached 230 million people.
