Kazakhstan becomes a full member of SMIIC
This will enable to promote the country's interests in the field of standardization and metrology, to strengthen the country's image among the member states, as well as to promote domestic exports to the SMIIC member states.
A session of the Board of Directors of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (hereinafter - SMIIC) took place in Mecca, during which Kazakhstan represented by the Committee on Technical Regulation and Metrology joint the Organization as a full member. A press service of the Ministry for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan informed, BNews.kz reports.
Full membership enables to promote Kazakhstan's interests in standardization and metrology, to strengthen the country's image among its member states, as well as to promote exports to the SMIIC member states.
"SMIIC presently aims to interact with all Islamic states and the International Halal Accreditation Forum to develop unified standards and requirements in certification," said Dr Saad Al-Kasabi, a SMMIC representative and the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO).
The session's participants took a decision to create the Board of Directors's strategy and finance permanent committees by analogue with the International Standardization Organization (ISO).
The delegates also discussed the main technical matters and a strategy for further development.
The Organization's main objective is to create a unified standardization, certification, accreditation and metrology system to reduce technical barriers to trade between its member states.
