Kazakhstan citizens began to use ATM machines more often - survey
The amount of the funds withdrawn from payment cards on the territory of Kazakhstan has made up 6.2 trillion tenges for the half year, that is by 25.4% more that for the same period of the past year.
Kazakhstan citizens have begun to use ATM machines more often. The amount of the cahs withdrawn from ATM machines has increased by 29% over the year, the number of transactions - by 17%. At the same time, over the month, the banking network of the second-tier banks of Kazakhstan has decreased by 11% over the month, BNews.kz reports with a reference to ranking.kz.
The amount of the funds withdrawn from payment cards on the territory of Kazakhstan over the half year has reached 6.2 trillion tenges, that is by 25.4% more than at the same period of the past year. 84.8% or 5.2 trillion tenges account for the funds withdrawn from ATM machines of the total amount, that is by 28.7% more that for January-June of 2017. The amount of the funds withdrawn from POS-terminals over the year has increased by 9.8%, up to 932.9 billion tenges.
The number of transactions to withdraw cash over the year has increased by 14.4%, up to 129.4 million, of which, 122.3 million account for cash machines (the increase by 16.7% over the year). The number of transactions by POS-terminals has decreased by 14.7%, up to 7.1 million.
The average check of one transactions for January-June 2018 is 47.5 thousand tenges (a year ago - 43.4 thousand tenges), by cash machines - 42.7 thousand tenges (a year ago - 38.7 thousand tenges), by POS-terminals - 131.3 thousand tenges (a year ago - 102 thousand tenges).
The increase of the amount of cash withdrawal from payment cards is observed aroud all Kazakhstan. The biggest increased year-to-year is observed in Almaty region - by 34.6%, up to 281.4 billion tenges for January-June 2018. The share of the total share of Kazakhstan has increased ffrom 4.3% to 4.6%.
The next is Turkestan region and Shymkent (former South Kazakhstan region) - the increase by 31.5%, up to 555.2 billion tenges. Its share of the total share of Kazakhstan has increased from 8.6% to 9%.
The third one is Kyzylorda region - the increase by 29.7%, up to 191.5 billion tenges. Its share of the total share of Kazakhstan has incerased from 3% to 3.1%.
It should be noted that despite the increasing amount of the cash withrawn from ATM machines, the number of cash machines as of the end of June 2018 has made up 8.8 thousand units. That is by 1.1 thousand units less compared to the past month.
At the same time, the increase of the network of cash machines is observed. Thus, from the end of June of the past year to May 2018, the number of automated teller machines increased from 9.7 to 9.9 thousand.
