In January the volumes of retail trade reached 625,7 billion tenge, which is by 12.5% more than in the same period of the previous year (and by 4.3% more in real volumes taking into account inflation).

In the first month of the year, Kazakhstan citizens spent 625,7 billion tenge in stores and bazaars.  Each city citizen spends on average 60 thousand tenge, the PR service of the project on monitoring of the republic’s economy Ranking.kz reports.

“In January, the volumes of retail trade reached 625,7 billion tenge, which is by 12.5% more that in the same period of the previous year (and by 4.3% more in real volumes taking into account inflation). The most annual growth is noticed in Almaty region, which is by 23.6%, up to 25.2 billion tenge. The second place is Karaganda region, plus 16.2% par year, up to 61.7 billion tenge, the third place is South Kazakhstan region, plus 16%, up to 30.5 billion tenge,” says the message distributed on Thursday.

Thus, the average bill of officially purchases comprised 60 thousand tenge, by 10.4% more than in the same period of the previous year, in January. “The highest average bills, traditionally belonged to Almaty citizens: the average citizen of the finance center spent 109,3 thousand tenge for January, which is by 8.1% higher than in the previous year,” says the information.

Among the purchases of Kazakhstan citizens 31% (30% in the previous year) made up food products and 69% non-food products.

At the same time, the rural area made up only 8% of the official retail trade, and 7% in January of 2017. Taking into account the minimal share of officially purchases conducted through cashboxes in rural areas, the average bill is calculated on the city resident.
