The minimal fine for perpetration is reduced from 500 to 200 MCI (from 1.2 million to 481 thousand). The maturity of fines increases from six months to three years.
The Prosecutor General's Office explained the provisions of the draft law on reducing the repressiveness of criminal and criminal procedural legislation. During the press conferences in the Central Communications Center, Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Marat Akhmetzhanov said that the minimum penalty for crimes is reduced from 500 to 200 MCI (from 1.2 million to 481 thousand). The maturity of fines increases from six months to three years, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
This measure was taken as the institution operates yet to be fully implemented. Only 5-10% of convicted are to pay fines. The reason is that the amounts of fines are large, and the payment terms are short. This is an unbearable condition for people. Now about 1 thousand people can apply to the courts to reduce the amount of fines and increase the payment term," Akhmetzhanov said.
The next measure is a twofold increase in the amount of damage in 39 articles of the Criminal Code. 20 of them - economic crimes, 11 - against property and 8 - for other chapters not related to violence.
Earlier they were raised only for tax crimes. For other compositions, the damage has not been reviewed for more than 20 years.
It should be noted that this measure did not affect thefts, robberies, robberies. Thieves, robbers, and robbers will not be affected by the damage caused by them.
According to the speaker, just for this amendment, 2,5 thousand people sentenced to deprivation of liberty fall, mainly for embezzlement of entrusted property and fraud.
