Kazakhstan Energy Minister and Gazprom’s head discussed the gasification of Astana

Meeting of Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev with Chairman of the Board of PJSC Gazprom Aleksey Miller was held in Saint Petersburg.

Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev and Chairman of the Board of PJSC Gazprom Aleksey Miller met in Saint Petersburg on February 26, 2018, where they discussed the possible routes under the gasification of Astana project, the press service of the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan reports.

In 2016, in the framework of the XIII forum of interregional cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia, the heads of state signed a plan of joint actions for 2016-18.

According to the plan, it was instructed to continue talks on mutual use of the gas transport potential to carry out deliveries and transit of gas through the territory of Kazakhstan, including with the use of the existing and those planned gas transport capacities of the country, as well as taking into account the construction of new gas pipelines on the territory of Kazakhstan. According to the results of talks, it was decided to create a joint working group that in a short term will develop possible variants of a transit main gas pipeline from Russia to Kazakhstan for the gasification of Astana and the Central Kazakhstan.

“The successful implementation of the project on laying a transit main gas pipeline will facilitate to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the gas sector,” says the message.

The sides also discussed the current issues on the implementation of projects in the soil use sector on the Caspian Sea and neighboring fields.

In general, Bazumbayev and Miller expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral; cooperation in the gas sector.

According to Bozumbayev, the Kazakhstan side supports the further strengthening and expansion of long-term partnerships in joint projects, as well as is ready to more effective use of the potential of cooperation between the two countries in the gas sector.
