Kazakhstan improved by nine positions in the corruption perceptions index

Kazakhstan scored 31 and took the 122nd place among 180 countries of the world, thereby improving its indicator by 2 scores and 9 positions compared to the indicators of 2016.  

The modern anti-corruption policy in Kazakhstan received the positive assessment in the corruption perceptions index of Transparency International, the press service of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption reports.

“On February 22, the corruption perceptions index of Transparency International for 2017 was officially reported, where Kazakhstan scored 31 and took the 122nd place among 180 countries of the world, thereby improving its position by 2 score and 9 positions comparing to the indicators of 2016,” says the message distributed on Thursdays.

Transparency International holds research the level of corruption all over the world, and in this year, the number of countries being assessed increased up to 180. It is noted that there was no country that could score 90 in the corruption perceptions index over 2017, that proves that corruption occurs in all countries.

Kazakhstan being a participant of this rating since 1999, for the first time scored 31, that facilitated to step out from the category of the most corrupted states, exceeding the threshold value by 30 scores.

In the present year, the same as in the past, the corruption perceptions index was compiled on the base of data of the nine accredited international rating agencies and inquires, held among experts and business circles.  

In the last year, the Agency did a huge work on the interaction with all nine international rating organizations, including visits and meetings with representatives of these organizations in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA were organized.

Following the results of their research, the improvement of the indicators on corruption HIS Global Insight, the Bertelsmann Fund, the International Management Development Institute, the World Justice Project, the Project of Diversity of Democracy, The Economist magazine is observed. The achievement of such results is the beginning of effective cooperation of the civil public, business communities and the state in the formation of “zero” tolerance to corruption,” says the information.
