Kazakhstan intends to increase the proportion of Internet users up to 78% this year

In 2018, specific assignments will be carried out within the framework of ‘Digital Kazakhstan.’

Within the program ‘Digital Kazakhstan’ in 2018 it is planned to increase the proportion of Internet users. This was stated by Minister of Information and Communications of Kazakhstan Dauren Abayev at the expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry, Bnews.kz correspondent reports.

"Among the performance indicators for the current year, I can single out: an increase in the proportion of Internet users up to 78%, an increase in the share of local content in IT-services to 26%, the creation of at least 200 startup companies supported by technology parks, incubators and accelerators. Including not less than 33 start-ups must pass the acceleration in the technopark of Astana HUB," Abayev said.

The Minister recalled that on February 7, on the basis of Astana HUB, the first incubation program was launched, in which 14 best start-ups were selected.

In this connection, the head of the Ministry instructed to Vice Minister Kairat Balykbayev to take under a strong control the implementation of all measures concerning the projects.

We note that at the interview in the newspaper “Kazakhstanskaya pravda” Dauren Abayev told that in 2020 the Ministry plans to provide 1 240 perspective settlements with the highspeed Internet.
