Kazakhstan made a statement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria

The implementation of the resolution will be one of the specific steps to ensure a safe and barrier-free access to the humanitarian aid to the most affected areas of Syria.

Kazakhstan welcomes the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution on the cessation of hostilities in Syria with the aim to improve the humanitarian situation of the country, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports.

“We note the document’s special currency in the background of the increased level of violence in several areas of Syria in recent times, as well as in the East Ghouta with numerous deaths among the civil population including women and children. Calling upon the full observance of the resolution’s provisions, Kazakhstan expects each interested country to use its authority and influence to make the sides of the conflict to take real steps on the way of strengthening the trust measures with the aim of fast settlement of the Syrian conflict,” says the message.

In addition, Kazakhstan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council taking into account of the experience of the Astana process on Syria is sure that there is no alternative to the peaceful way to settle the situation in the country firstly by continuing the Geneva talks under the auspice of the United Nations and providing the almost universal support.
