Kazakhstan may stop using plastic bags within 10 years
The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan talks over the dates.
The Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Sabit Nurlybay, told that Kazakhstan may stop using plastic bags within 5-10 years, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
"We must conduct a gradual and systematic work to eliminate the use of plastic bags. This will take time. Firstly, we should search for an alternative. We have made an important step to stop distributing plastic bags in markets. We are to raise this issue within the Environmental Code being designed," said the Vice Minister.
As of today, the Ministry has set up a working group discussing the dates of the termination of the use of plastic bags.
"This issue will take a lot of people, as well as 5 or 10 years are needed," said Sabit Nurlybay.
