By 2022, the Ministry of Information and Communications of Kazakhstan plans to increase the level of digital literacy of the population by up to 83%.
The Minister of Information and Communications of Kazakhstan told about the ways the population will be taught digital literacy, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
"At present, according to estimates, the basic level of digital literacy of the population is 77%, and by the end of the year it is planned to increase it to 78.5%. To this end, guidelines have been developed for teaching digital literacy, a form of digital literacy training, as well as 4 basic education programs: basic digital skills, information and transactional skills, e-commerce skills," said Dauren Abayev.
According to him, at the moment, 2 approaches to training the population are defined.
"The first one is to train the population and professional staff by the central government bodies. The second one will be carried out by local executive bodies for the population. Under the first approach, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the Ministry of Healthcare, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Agriculture will act as responsible state bodies. These state bodies will conduct so-called "concomitant" training, for example, the Ministry of National Economy trains entrepreneurs in doing business, and so, training of digital skills will be included in these programs," said the Minister.
He noted that the Ministry will act also when improving the qualification of teaching staff. Thus, the total number of professional staff planned for training is 385 thousand people.
"In addition, we plan to cover about 8 million citizens with basic skills in using state electronic services, as well as online trading on the basis of State Corporation "Government for Citizens" and JSC “Kazpost." Under the second approach, local executive bodies, together with PSCs and “Kazpost” will conduct training in all the remote areas of the country," said Abayev.
According to the Minister, 500 thousand people will be covered. The campaign will be started on June 1 of the present year.
