Kazakhstan Ministry of Education: Training of seamen in the country doesn't conform to the international standards
Today about 600 Kazakhstan citizens work at vessels of the domestic fleet that makes 47% of total of seamen. During discussion in Majilis of parliament of Kazakhstan of the bill concerning transport, the vice-Minister of Education and Science Bibigul Asylova have reported that today there is a problem of discrepancy of educational programs of the international convention of seamen preparation and certification, BNews.kz correspondent reported.
Now training in marine facilities and technology is carried out by three higher education institutions of the country: Caspian State University, Atyrau university of oil and gas and Kazakhstan-British technical university. The contingent is 434 persons, 409 - study by the state order.
"As for compliance to the international standards, really, for today we have a problem of discrepancy of educational programs of the international convention of preparation and diplomaed seamen. Now the Ministry of Education and Science together with NPP Atameken and the MID and these three higher education institutions revises educational programs. We have already carried out 3 working groups in the current year. Until the end of May we will revise these educational programs, and, I think that at the beginning of academic year training in these programs will already begin," Bibigul Asylova said.
Besides, according to B. Asylova, there is one more problematic issue within preparation on this specialty - it is a training which seamen of nearly 365 days have to have in a year.
"The sum of a grant doesn't cover the given expenses now, and we together with the MID plan within the forthcoming formation of the republican budget for 2018-2020; we will declare the additional expenses connected with a training of seamen," the vice-minister added.
