Kazakhstan President suggested to convene the summit of the countries owners of nuclear weapons

The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has taken the new initiative of decrease in nuclear threat in the world. In particular, the Kazakhstan leader has urged to accelerate entry into force of the contract on a total ban of nuclear weapon and to convene the summit of the countries owners of such arms, BNews.kz reported.

"All of us are disturbed by a global situation on nuclear safety. In this regard I want to offer our following Kazakhstan ideas. The first. We specified more than once that the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapon (NNPT) doesn't equal the hopes laid on it. There are no concrete steps against those who break it. In particular, the countries of "Nuclear club" don't open the data on nuclear programs in a voluntary order. And the rest forbid to have, test and extend it. It is necessary to reduce such imbalance of approaches between "the nuclear five" and the rest of the world," the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev noted.

In this regard the Head of state has reminded that in 2020 the world will celebrate the 50 anniversary of entry into force of the NNPT.

"Let's everybody make efforts that to this term around the world the contract on a total ban of nuclear weapon has come into force," Nazarbayev told.

The president has announced an initiative to gather all countries whith nuclear weapon, for discussion of safety issues.

"The future of the global world depends on the nuclear states – both recognized, and unrecognized. I offer to carry out legalization of the status of all de facto of the nuclear states and to convene the summit of the countries owners of nuclear weapon in common to discuss these global problems," Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized.

We will remind, earlier during a teleconference the President of Kazakhstan and the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano have opened the building of BLEU.
