Kazakhstan and China agreed on the delivery of 5 billion cubic meters of Kazakhstan gas per year. The sale agreement was signed between JSC “KazTransGas” and the company “PetroChina International Company Limited”.

According to the press service of JSC “KazTransGas”, it is planned to start to export gas from October 15. The resource base will be deposits in the west of Kazakhstan, as well as available gas reserves from the underground gas storage facilities of JSC “KazTransGas”. The point of reception of gas by the Chinese side is the border point "Khorgos".

It should be noted that the agreement was preceded by an intergovernmental agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of natural gas transportation and transit, allowing gas to be supplied from western Kazakhstan deposits to the southern regions by transit through Uzbekistan. This agreement will simultaneously ensure stability in providing resources to the southern regions of Kazakhstan in winter, on the other hand, ensure a stable supply of gas for export to China. The agreements reached by the Governments of the two countries give new impetus to the relations of the gas companies, making them constructive and mutually beneficial.

We note that the expected export revenue of the National operator JSC “KazTransGas” will comprise about 1 billion dollars.

“Diversification of transit and export routes for the transportation of Kazakhstan gas, as well as an increase in the volume of export of blue fuel - these are important strategic tasks that were set by the President of Kazakhstan. The Head of State noted that for full disclosure of the transport and transit potential of the country, it is necessary to ensure freedom of transit of goods, create new transport corridors”, Vice-President for gas transportation and marketing at JSC NC “KazMunaiGas” Kairat Sharipbayev said.

Deliveries of Kazakhstan gas to China will promote bilateral mutually beneficial relations aimed at creating a common infrastructure and establishing trade and transport links between the countries of the Eurasian region.

We note that JSC “KazTransGas” is the main gas-energy and gas transportation company of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which represents the interests of the State both on the domestic and foreign gas market. The company manages a centralized infrastructure for the transport of marketable gas through gas trunk lines and gas distribution networks, provides international transit and sells gas on the domestic and foreign markets, develops, finances, builds and operates pipelines and gas storage facilities.
