Kazakhstan to hold Asian Weightlifting Championships in 2020
In the near future, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan and the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan will choose the region where the Championships will be held.
Following the session of the Executive Committee of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and the IWF Congress, it was decided in Tashkent to hold the 2020 Asian Championships in Kazakhstan, BNews.kz reports with reference to the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan.
As part of the event, a bilateral meeting between IWF Vice President and President of the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan Zhanat Tusupbekov and President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation Mohammed Yousef Al Mana was held.
Following the talks, agreements were reached, and the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan received an official confirmation letter to hold the 2020 Asian Championships in Kazakhstan. It should be noted that it is an integral qualifying tournament for the Asian continent before the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.
“Our sincere congratulations on receiving the rights to hold the Asian Championships and let us express our support in the successful organization of such an important event,” reads the letter.
The office of Kazakhstan’s Federation has received a number of applications from various regions of Kazakhstan, and in the near future the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan and the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan will make a decision.
